The Company Manager, reporting directly to the Artistic and General Director, is a full time position responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of the organization, including contract administration, guest artist arrangements, reconciliation of tickets sales, vendor relationships, and liaising with bookkeeper for management of payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable. In addition, the Company manager is the principal liaison between the production manager and artistic departments.

The successful candidate will have meticulous approach to their work. He/she will be trustworthy and honest, with excellent community relations skills. This person must have strong organizational skills and their work must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include the following:


> Coordinate and Opera Saratoga’s day-to-day operations
> Coordinate department needs with Production, Marketing and Development
> Coordinate with Bookkeeper and maintain accurate records of all correspondence and financial transactions related to program activity and general operations; support annual audit procedures with accountant
> Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for grant proposals and meetings of the Board of Directors and related committees
Ensure ongoing insurance compliance including Workers’ Compensation, Disability, Liability and D&O
> Administer Health Insurance and Benefit Plans
> Collaborate with the Artistic and General Director and the Board of Directors on long-term strategic planning, and outreach to potential strategic and community partners to advance Opera Saratoga’s goals


> Execute and maintain contracts for all seasonal artistic/production staff & orchestra according to union regulations; Maintain all records the American Federation of Musicians Pension Fund and Local 506 union dues and agency fees
> Locate, negotiate and contract housing for all seasonal artists, and production staff; Serve as primary contact for Board Housing Committee to screen and secure host housing; Address seasonal housing needs for artists and staff as needed
> Coordinate transportation to/from Saratoga Springs for all seasonal staff and contractors (artistic and production); Coordinate transportation with volunteers for summer artists’ arrivals & departures; Arrange all necessary rental and/or loaner vehicles for seasonal staff and contractors (artistic and production)
> In coordination with Bookkeeper and/or Department Heads, prepare and issue checks for seasonal staff and contractors
> Assist in the preparation of “welcome packets” for all seasonal staff and contractors (artistic and production), and delivery to housing
> Serve as primary liaison for Production Manager to assist in the coordination of production needs and document production expenses for Bookkeeper
> Secure certificates of insurance from insurance company for all production vendors
> Manage seasonal theater/opera house/park issues in partnership with General Director.
> Serve as primary liaison with front of house staff at performance venue(s)
> Welcome patrons at all performances and events
> Assist with Patron Lounge and Post-Performance receptions as needed
> Assist with Box Office and Patron support during the summer as needed
> Reconcile Ticket Sales with Saratoga Performing Arts Center Box Office


> Execute contracts artists for all community engagement and education programs
> Arrange all transportation needs for artists, including travel to/from Saratoga Springs, rental/loaner cars, and vans for community engagement and education programs
> Locate, negotiate and contract housing for artists
> Support board and staff in planning and execution of fund raising events, including annual gala
> Assist in Development Manager and/or Gala Committee as requested to secure contracts for all vendors including venue, food, entertainment, auctioneer, décor, etc.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

> Bachelor's degree or equivalent
> Solid bookkeeping and contracts administration experience; knowledge of QuickBooks is highly preferred
> Excellent computer software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
> Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to assume professional responsibilities as directed and work independently with minimal supervision
> Effective and courteous interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; oral and written English fluency, including accuracy in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
> Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of progress, each with a unique timeline, maintaining attention to detail
> Genuine interest in opera

Opera Saratoga, formerly known as Lake George Opera, began with a production of Die Fledermaus at the Diamond Point Theatre on July 5, 1962, playing to an audience of 230. The Company now calls Saratoga Springs, NY home, and performs for more than 25,000 people annually.

Opera Saratoga serves the communities of Saratoga Springs, the Lower Adirondack and New York State Capital areas by providing access to world-class opera through the production of an annual Summer Festival, as well as year-round activities including extensive educational programs, mentorship of emerging operatic artists, and unique opportunities for the public to experience opera in both our home theater and non-traditional venues that leverage and embrace the unique cultural, historic, and natural resources of the area. In July 2014, Lawrence Edelson became the new Artistic and General Director of Opera Saratoga. Edelson’s leadership marked a new chapter in the company’s history, with increased emphasis on community partnerships throughout the year, diversification of the company’s repertoire, and a reaffirmed commitment to both the presentation of American opera and the mentorship of emerging artists as core activities in the company’s programs each season. The 2018 Summer Festival will be the fourth season under Lawrence's leadership, and will feature new productions of The Merry Widow (Lehar), The Consul (Menotti), the American Premiere of Rocking Horse Winner (Williams/Chatterton), and the World Premiere of a new chamber version of Vinkensport, or The Finch Opera (Little/Vavrek).
